How Scoring Works
🌊

Score Ranges

70-100 Good

0-39 Poor

Scoring Factors

We start with 100 points and apply penalties:

🌊 Wave Height

Larger waves reduce visibility and make swimming harder.

HeightPenalty
≤ 0.3mNone
0.3 - 0.6m-15
0.6 - 1.0m-35
> 1.0m-60

⏱️ Wave Period

Shorter periods mean choppier, less comfortable conditions.

PeriodPenalty
≥ 8sNone
6 - 8s-10
4 - 6s-20
< 4s-35

💨 Wind Speed

Strong winds create surface chop and can push you around.

SpeedPenalty
≤ 8 ktNone
8 - 12 kt-10
12 - 16 kt-20
> 16 kt-35

Tips

  • Morning is best — Winds typically pick up in the afternoon
  • Watch wind direction — Offshore winds can push you out
  • Check hourly — Conditions can change throughout the day
